Word Pendant

Seen during the day as a web of words, the Word Pendant, transitions at night into projected shadows on the wall, where the text appears backwards, like the writing in Leonardo’s sketchbooks. In all the iterations of this piece, no two have ever been alike, because each inscription is unique, taken from a different page. This pendant, like all of Alison Berger’s designs, is blown in her Los Angeles atelier and annealed for several days before being finished by hand. Each is truly one of a kind.

The crystal in all of the Alison Berger Glassworks collection is hand blown. The process itself uses no molds or form constraints to shape the piece. Each fixture is a unique piece of functional art. The material qualities of this process will sometimes result in small air bubbles and actual tool marks, which are desirable evidence of the artisanal process.
