Lyra Sconce

shown in medium amber bronze patina

Product Description

The armature of Alison Berger’s Lyra Sconce was inspired by 16th century instruments created to view the night sky and the worlds beyond. The mirror reflector and hand-carved optical crystal lenses surrounding the filament of the bulb capture and magnify the kinetic energy of illumination. This sconce, like all of Alison Berger’s designs, is blown in her Los Angeles atelier and annealed for several days before being finished by hand. Each is truly one of a kind.

The crystal in all of the Alison Berger Glassworks collection is hand blown. The process itself uses no molds or form constraints to shape the piece. Each fixture is a unique piece of functional art. The material qualities of this process will sometimes result in small air bubbles and actual tool marks, which are desirable evidence of the artisanal process.
