Bloom Pendant

Based on the anatomy of a flower, these pieces are composed of wheel-engraved lines, suggesting the veins of natural petals. Acid-etched glass panels are held in a bronze frame and take on the quality of an x-ray. When illuminated, the result is a projection of light and shadow.

The crystal in all of the Alison Berger Glassworks collection is hand blown. The process itself uses no molds or form constraints to shape the piece. Each fixture is a unique piece of functional art. The material qualities of this process will sometimes result in small air bubbles and actual tool marks, which are desirable evidence of the artisanal process.
